Review : L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte VS Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless

I  really want to make a review between these two foundations long time ago, L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte and Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless. These two foundations are so huge out there, so many beauty vloggers raving about them, saying they are the best drugstore foundation ever. When I hear they both have matte finish, I’m so tempted to buy and try it. So here I am, after sometimes using these products and trying how good do they work, finally I can come up with my honest opinion.

L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

I have light skin not too fair, normal to oily combination. I’m using “102 Shell Beige”. They claim that their product have demi matte finish, air light, medium coverage, up to 24 hours and oil free. Wow! It’s so tempting right. When i hear about pro-matte for the first time, I know i will need this in my life, so, I don’t need too much time to purchase it.

I love the packaging, its squeezy plastic tube is so convenient and travel friendly. The applicator is fine, you just need to squeeze the tube and control how much you want the product without getting messy.

They have information on the back of the tube. It says “Lasting Demi-Matte Finish Never Dull Never Flat”. They show it clearly, how the finish, coverage, texture and tips how to use. I think it’s really good for us who are still confused about what we are looking for, so it’s really helpful.

It’s my bare skin, I’ve done my eye makeup but there is nothing on my face. As you can see, I have dark under eyes, veins, and some red spots. Natural skin tone not too cool and warm, combination oily skin, but i have some dry patches near chin and mouth.

When I apply it to my skin, hmm I feel it very interesting. The consistency is a little bit thick, but once i apply on skin it is so smooth and works like magic. It blends so nicely to my skin, i don’t need too much effort to spread it all over my face. I love its luminosity looks, it isn’t just look like flat matte or dead matte (at least on oily skin) but it still gives some glow on your skin. When it sits on your skin, it’s not tacky at all. This foundation is so light weight yet still give coverage. I never found anything like this before. Amazing right! It looks beautiful on skin. It gives you powdery finish, I think you won’t need to set it with powder anymore. So if you have oily skin or you like semi matte finish, I highly recommend you to try this product.

The only cons about this foundation is their shade range, I find it hard to get the best shade for my skin. 103 is too yellow and dark for me, 102 is still okey but not perfect, and 101 is too pinky.

This is before and after I used L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte. At the before picture you can see my red purple veins and they have gone at the after picture. It covers my veins so well and gives a very smooth skin looks, light to medium coverage and it is really light weight. I feels like I’m not using any foundation at all and its oil control is really great. I tested it for around 8 hours, it only faded at around nose area, but still look great at other areas.

The closer look of my face using L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte. I really in awe of this foundation. Look! How smooth it looks on my skin, it isn’t cakey on the side of my nose and it’s so beautiful on skin. You can see the coverage clearly, it even has natural finish. It is not transferred to my hand after I apply it. This can definitely compete with the high-end foundations on the market.

Maybelline Fit me Matte + Poreless

When I first heard about this foundation, I didn’t need to read any review or anything. I just bought it when I read the name “Matte + Poreless”. I would die to try it, a matte foundation, blurred pores, controlled oil, and flawless finish. It’s meant for normal to oily skin, while dry skin can have the other version Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth.

First, I’m not a big fan of its packaging. They have glass bottle with no pump in it. It is very inconvenient to take the foundation out and it also makes the bottle messy. So it is hard to measure how much product will come out.

I’m using “120 Classic Ivory”. It has runny consistency, so you need to blend it fast on your skin because it dries really fast. It only needs one layer to get medium coverage and it is build-able. It covers redness, dark spots and blemish. It also sits really nice on my skin, it will make my skin looks pore-less and does not accentuate my pores. The finish is matte and powdery,it is one of the foundations that I can confidently wear without setting it. Other things i love about Maybelline is its long wearing, I use it for almost 10 hours and this foundation still looks great on my skin, they sit well and leave me with velvety finish. My only personal cons is they accentuate dry patches, in my opinion prepping the skin is required before applying it, especially for dry skin.

Before and after wearing Maybelline Matte + Poreless Foundation. The coverage is really great, it covers my veins, red spot, dark under eyes and my flaw so well. It has medium to full coverage, I don’t think I will need any concealer while wearing this foundation. I think it has more coverage than L’oreal. I got so many compliment when I’m wearing this foundation. Buttt… When I touch my face right after applying it, it transfers to my hand.

I don’t know if the photo quality is good enough for you to see my dry patches near the chin and mouth. Yes! It accentuate my little bump and dry patches. You need to look closer to see it but it is there. It is not cakey and tacky at all, I’m really sad when I can see my dry patches there. But I don’t mind when it comes to the price, the quality is still good and I can use it everyday without breaking my skin out.

Final thoughts

So who is the winner? For me of course I choose L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte. I really like the finish and the texture. After I use it all day long, my skin is just fine, the oil control is so good and it still have the coverage. While Maybelline Matte + Poreless has the possibility to cling on to dry patches. So you need to prepare your skin first with moisturizer. When I want to have a natural finish, I will grab L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte, and if I want full coverage and long lasting, like all-day-long makeup, I will choose Maybelline Matte + Poreless. Overall I love these two for my everyday foundation. For a drugstore foundation, and based on their price, their quality is really good.

Give me your thoughts!

hi, Can you tell me which color of the Loreal infallible matte, is comparable to the Maybelline matte pore less, classic ivory 120? The 101 is too pink and light. I was hoping the 105 could be it.

Hi Laurie, I think 120 is comparable between 102 and 103 on Loreal Infallible pro matte. 105 is too dark in my opinion. Hope it helps!
